Exceptional interior. Food is excellent and the value is amazing. We spent 90 pounds including tip and had duck and halibut mains plus starters. Southern England that is 120 pound night easily. Service was excellent and the waitress was very much in sync with their drink selection. Recommend highly especially after our experience in this area where there is an obsession with chippys and low end burgers.
Only my second ever visit. Casta spotted it in his 2023 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Lovely vaulted cellar bar ( easy access, pub built at street level into Castle Hill.) Three separate rooms opposite the bar. Large beer patio to the front. Toilets upstairs. The bar has a choice of up to eight real ales, seven of which were available on our visit. ( From six breweries.) Decided on a plum and brandy Porter from Pennine. Smooth and very flavousome. Not a session beer.
Wonderful. Last ate here about ten years ago, this was a totally different experience. Food was incredibly good, with a very interesting menu. We had the cheese souffle, followed by salted beetroot as a veggie option and wild boar (with garlic sausage), with a side of nadju macaroni cheese. Superb, beautifully cooked, beautifully presented. Nice wine list, excellent serving staff. We ate absolutely everything.

We stumbled across this delightful pub on a rainy day in Lancaster and decided to pop in for a quick drink and a bite to eat , when our food arrived we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and amount received! Very tasty and good quality made this a great find ! Will definitely visit again . Amazing location right by the side of the canal.
Stopped by chance and enjoyed a light lunch - couldn’t have picked a better day for outsider table. Food was very tasty.
Stopped off here for Sunday lunch. A lovely location overlooking the river! The beef dinner was delicious and an excellent sized portion. One of the nicest Sunday dinners I have had.

The Quarterhouse operates as a contemporary British restaurant with a chef-owned kitchen and bar. Situated in Lancaster's cultural Canal Quarter, it enjoys a prime location in the heart of the north-west, where it has access to some of the UK's finest local produce, a heritage it both embodies and celebrates in its seasonal menus. The restaurant takes pride in its strong commitment to modern British cuisine sourced locally. During daytime hours, The Quarterhouse's brunch menu features products from esteemed suppliers in Lancashire and the Lake District. They serve artisan coffee, which they roast on-site in Lancaster, and they also use sourdough bread from Lovingly Artisan in Kendal. THE QUARTERHOUSE REVIEWS
We had the pleasure of savoring an unforgettable meal at this restaurant. The QH breakfast was a hearty and flavorful delight, with Cumberland sausages, fried egg, smokehouse bacon, black pudding, cherry tomatoes, and homemade beans coming together in a symphony of flavors. Every bite was a journey of taste and satisfaction. My husband's Seafood Benedict was equally exceptional, combining the richness of king scallop and smoked salmon with the elegance of poached egg and hollandaise atop toasted crumpets. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients truly stood out. This dining experience was a true culinary adventure, leaving us already planning our return to explore more of the menu's delectable offerings.
Fantastic food in a relaxed environment. The staff were lovely, friendly and made some great proactive recommendations. Will definitely be returning! The vegan options were amazing and the cocktails were awesome too. Vegetarian options: Healthy choices that were no less tasty because of it. Amazing work was done to create this menu, including the vegetarian and vegan options.
A friendly relaxed atmosphere makes for pleasant eating at this informal restaurant. I had the delicious pulled shoulder of Cumbrian lamb with feta and homemade romesco sauce on Artisan sourdough for brunch. Plenty of drink options including a hand crafted latte.
