St Patrick's Church, designed in the Gothic Revival style, was founded to provide religious services to the local community. The church's development unfolded in three distinct phases. Initially, it accommodated only a small number of residents. However, as the years passed, the population grew, surpassing the church's capacity. Consequently, plans were made for a new church building, completed in 1845. St Patrick's Church is highly regarded by the parish community, offering various ministries to cater to their unique needs. The church's organ has faithfully served the community for more than 135 years, enriching the church's choir and enhancing various musical events. Holy Family Mossend is one of the oldest churches within the Diocese of Motherwell, established to provide religious services to the local community. The church marked its 150th Jubilee in 2018, underscoring its deep historical roots and the enduring tradition of worship it offers to its parishioners. In response to the rapid growth of the local population, the initially designated school building, which could accommodate 460 pupils, was extended in 1881. However, the thriving community soon outgrew the capacity of Holy Family Mossend church. In 1883, a new church building commenced, featuring a new design by Messrs Pugin. The former accommodations for church services were no longer sufficient, leading to the commencement of construction for the new place of worship. Holy Family Mossend's new church building was completed in 1884, officially opening its doors for the local community to attend Mass and engage in worship. Moreover, in 1873, Chapelhall and Mossend became independent missions, with Father Milne continuing to oversee this area until 1881.
