I always find it a bit daunting when I go in here as there is so much choice. On this occasion I asked a member of staff for elasticated trousers for my 90 year old disabled mum, she showed me some, they had them in the colour mum wanted, so we went to pay, the queue was quite long but we were through it in 5 minutes! Quite incredible. The trousers were perfect thank you, mum wore them to my daughters 30th birthday. So there are no age bounderies in this shop nor ability bounderies as mum is a wheelchair user and we found no problems getting around the shop.

Staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. Sometimes sizes are hard to find in their permanent lines but at these prices it's understandable. Always great for pajamas which is my favourite thing. Staff are also very aware of queues and try and make the wait to pay as short as possible.

I got some quality pieces there. I loved shopping at this location, the staff were really helpful and gave styling recommendations. This stood out for me. Prices are also reasonable and the store is meat, well organized and not stuffy.

I have been searching in different shops to obtain cardboard packaging for an appliance I must return, most shops could not help me or give me much cardboard. However Eloise at Matalan Chelmsford went above and beyond, sorting me as much cardboard as I wanted and sorted me a trolley to transport it home and even threw in some parcel tape. Many thanks

This store is actually offering more than thinking but not too much of it. There is even a genius idea: that was us managing to get self checkout exactly in the ordinary checkout area so you would not really need patience if a cashier ain't ready in time.

Use this store a lot. Good variety. Helpful with click and collect. This week my toddler ran off from me, and I could find her. All staff helped and blocked the doors to ensure she couldn’t leave. Was within a few minutes, and am very grateful!

This is a pristine, clearly, and easily laid out clothing and accessories store. The shop is always clean and very well stocked, which is solely down to the fantastic staff. They are always courteous and friendly whilst remaining professional. The range of clothing is excellent from everyday essentials through to higher end. It is very highly recommended store.

I cannot recommend this store enough, from start to finish from entering this branch to when when leaving it was such a pleasure, you have an amazing member of staff ANDREW, this guy is bloody amazing and so helpful and deserves a bonus!! We visited a few of your stores and Chelmsford store is the best by far, this branch has a true diamond and he is ever so helpful.

I just wanted to share how much I enjoy going into River Island in Chelmsford. They are always super friendly, helpful, not pushy or salesy. That is RARE these days when shopping. Just wanted to say thanks to the team there for making it a nice experience with brilliant customer care .
