The "Best Fish n Chips" in Carlisle, always fresh and delicious with lots of choice of other food if you don't eat fish, the staff are super friendly and its a great atmosphere which is good as there is usually a queue so a sure sign Fontana's is good and speaks for itself.

Picked up a chip tea on the way home, it was lovely. Delicious and well priced. Nice size portions as well.

A very popular chippy serving fresh fish and chips. The battery was light crispy and not greasy. Portion sizes are good.

The place is great, a bit retro but very charismatic. I tried 5 times Fish & Chips in Carlisle in 5 days and this was the best. Clean operation environment, nice service, nothing to complain about. Good parking options. We will come again.

Definitely worth a wee visit, delicious fresh fish & chips, with a wide variety of options available, including vegetarian and vegan. They do a few desert dishes. We opted for the kit kat sundae worth the visit in itself.

We came here on the way back from Carlisle, many times we have driven past while on holiday in the area, and said one day we will stop for food, well today was the day we stopped, we can say it was worth it, great food and plenty of it, good service.

THE TOWN FRYER REVIEWS

Takeaway shop at the front with restaurant to the back downstairs and upstairs. Friendly, helpful, and efficient staff. Good facilities and accessible. During my visit, a range of people were comfortably using the restaurant, including persons in wheelchairs. Clean and tidy, pay at the counter as you leave cash or card. Good menu options, including Steve Wilson Pies and Cumberland Sausage, of which I eat far too many already! So I opted for the small fish and chips, mushy peas, and a pot of tea. These were by far the best fish and chips I've had in Cumbria, so I'll be going again.

Really good chips, amazing fish. Lovely attentive staff with local knowledge. Will come again when in the area. Would 100% recommend.

So please we called in here. As a person who has IBS I struggle to find batter that isn't too fatty. This batter was absolutely perfect. Fish was lovely too. Hubby said the mushy peas were "spot on" too. Will definitely be back.
