“Calke Abbey has been restored to the house and stables from the condition they were found when the National Trust began caring for Calke. “Kedleston Hall is designed for lavish entertaining and displays an extensive collection of paintings and original furnishings designed by Robert Adam. The Curzon family has lived here since the 12th century and continues to live at the Hall. The house is designed with three floors and consists of three blocks linked by two segmentally curved corridors. Kedleston Hall is a beautiful example of the work of architect Robert Adam. The Great Kitchen restaurant serves cold and hot lunches and snacks, making it an excellent stop before or after your walks in the parkland or a visit inside the Hall. “Haddon Hall has a sloping site and is structured around two courtyards, with origins dating back to the 11th century. The hall is an English country house with centuries of history, standing on the River Wye in Derbyshire, UK. CALKE ABBEY REVIEWS

Have been here a few times in the past few months after discovering it and it’s one of favourite places to visit, especially now that we’re National Trust members. We’ve been just to visit the gardens and outbuildings which we love, another time to have a picnic overlooking the big pond (behind the car park), and another time for a full tour of the house which is so interesting. Will definitely do the house tour again. Going underground was very cool too and we would recommend this to all.

Lovely place to walk away a few hours. Grounds are beautifully kept, there's plenty of cafes and toilets. An ideal place for dog walkers, with a few places you can let them off the lead. Will be visiting again.

Had a great day out! Loads for the kids to do as part of the Summer of Play. House is genuinely fascinating and virtually unchanged for over 300 years. All the volunteers were very cheery and knowledgeable, you can tell they enjoy the house as well.

Stopped here after a short break in the Peaks. Really lovely NT house and surrounding grounds. Walked the grounds before heading into the house which is furnished beautifully. Had lunch in the restaurant which was great as you ordered and had your drinks and food brought to you. Much better way of serving customers. Church was also very nice. Would visit again and recommend.

A day at Keddlestone just walking the trails. We did the "Long Walk". Excellent paths suitable for all ages. 3.2 miles. Last part goes along the lakes.. Lunch time.e was so efficient and prompt in bringing food ordered.great system. Will definitely be back in the future.

Absolutely fabulous. Such a fantastic house to explore and beautiful gardens with a picturesque church. It's fascinating to explore the Curzons family timeline and to just experience being able to wander around in their home.

HADDON HALL REVIEWS

Great place to visit need your trainers on though, lots of steps some uneven but very enjoyable day wandering through years of history. Lucky we were staying locally which enabled us to gain a good discount from a local arrangement which covered the parking cost with change to spare to enjoy a tea & cake x 2 we spent 4hrs in all enjoying the historic location with guides on site who were very knowledgeable and gave insight to the life of the hall & families who live and have lived there, well worth the money.

Definitely one of the most beautiful country homes in the country. It's unique medieval heritage which has been restored to much of its original grandeur makes it truly unique to visit. It is a shame you can't do a proper walk on the estate but the impressive gardens and incredible home were more than enough for me and my partner to fall in love with this wonderful place.

During the festive season, we had the pleasure of visiting Haddon Hall, a stunning historic site hosting a Christmas market. The market itself was delightful, meandering through the property's courtyard and rooms. However, accessing the house involved a considerable climb, and the disabled parking area was located in a muddy field far from the house. Nonetheless, the beauty of the place is truly remarkable!
