Mr Winston Kim is a distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in full-time private practice, renowned for specialising in hip and knee surgery specifically hip and knee replacement surgery. His journey in the field of medicine commenced with the completion of his MB ChB degree from the University of Aberdeen in 1996. He pursued advanced training and education to become a leading expert in his field. His extensive training and qualifications include higher specialist training in the North West Rotation in England, culminating in the prestigious FRCS (Orth) designation. His dedication to staying at the forefront of orthopaedic surgery led to several notable awards and fellowships, such as the British Orthopaedic Foundation Travelling Fellowship, which allowed him to visit esteemed institutions like the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Hospital of Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, USA. He spent a Fellowship year in Vancouver training in advanced hip and knee replacement surgery. In Jan 2007, he started work as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salford Royal University Hospital, where he served in this capacity while also contributing as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford. He works in full-time private practice, primarily at The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle and Spire Manchester Hospital. In 2022, he performed the largest number of MAKO robot-assisted hip and knee replacements in the United Kingdom (more than 300 cases, total of almost 1000 cases), making him a leader in this transformative and cutting-edge technology in joint replacement surgery. He has performed over 2,000 conventional hip and knee replacements.
