Speciality:
“Mr Winston Kim specialises in hip and knee surgery, specifically robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement surgery, considered by many to be the most advanced way to perform such surgery. He is an experienced surgeon and has performed the largest number of private hip, knee, and partial knee replacements in addition to over 2,000 conventional cases. Multiple studies show that the larger the volume of hip and knee replacements performed, the higher the likelihood of a better outcome. Mr Kim qualified with a medical degree from the University of Aberdeen in 1996, pursued advanced training and education to become a leading expert in his field. His extensive training and qualifications include higher specialist training in the North West Rotation in England, culminating in the prestigious FRCS (Orth) designation. His dedication to staying at the forefront of orthopaedic surgery led to several notable awards and fellowships, such as the British Orthopaedic Foundation Travelling Fellowship, which allowed him to visit esteemed institutions like the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, USA. In January 2007, he started work as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salford Royal University Hospital, where he served in this capacity while also contributing as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford. He currently works in full-time private practice, exclusively at The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle and Spire Manchester Hospital. He has performed the largest number of private MAKO robot-assisted hip and knee replacements, making him a leader in this transformative and cutting-edge technology in joint replacement surgery.
