PUGNEYS COUNTRY PARK REVIEWS
Really nice place for a walk around the lake. Well maintained and wide paths make this accessible for everyone. There is a small gauge railway for children. Also places where you can have a bbq. There are small exercise areas, a large kids playground and a cafe. There is usually an ice cream van around as well. Peaceful place even if it can be a little busy when the weather is nice.
This is a large man made lake on the outskirts of Wakefield with a coarse hard gravel foot path all around the periphery. Entry is free but onsite parking is paid. The gravel path is essentially level except for a short distance were wheel chair users may have some difficulty. Its great for walking, jogging and cycling away from traffic. The lake offers some water sports with gear that can be hired on site. A miniature working train is fun for the youger generation. An onsite restaurant provides hot, cold and alcoholic drinks as well as hot and cold foods. There is also a meeting room and toilets for all visitors. Parking is paid for via an online link available from the parking machines. There is plenty of grass verge for play and picnics all around the lake.
Lovely afternoon. Kids enjoyed the play area, train ride and a walk around the lake.

ANGLERS COUNTRY PARK REVIEWS
Lovely place for a walk suitable for the whole family! The path around the lake is approximately 2 miles and is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. There is a Room on the Broom trail along the way which children will love. Also there are several bird hides to view the wildlife. There is a visitor centre near the car park with a small cafe for refreshments, toilet facilities, shop and information centre, plus a great children's playground. There are a few picnic benches but many people just take picnic blankets and sit down by the lake, especially on hot summer days. A great place to spend a few hours without spending a fortune!
Love this place. Go here for brisk walks regularly and always find it peaceful. If its busy and you're a fast walker like me then I always go the reverse way round so turn left and go round that way so I don't have to keep asking people to move as they will pass by me from the front.
Very nice and quiet place. About 2 miles, one round easy one hour walk. Visited on Wednesday about 11.45. Many people and new charges for car park.

THORNES PARK REVIEWS
Love this park with its well layer out footpaths. Just wish others shared my experience instead of leaving their litter all over the place. There are plenty of bins, yet people feel the need to pick up and bag their dog muck and just leave it on the ground.
It's so beautiful when the flowers are in bloom. As someone with a slight fear of geese, I can say these are some of the friendliest I've met. There is lots of space for little ones to run and a huge playground.
A fabulous park! Huge grounds to walk the dog on, a pond full of swans, geese and ducks. And it also has the rose gardens. Love it.
