This a lovely museum that we regularly visit with my children. Due to it's size and content the children really enjoy exploring the Museum and always notice new things and also like the familiar setting it offers. The central library is based in the same building and we regularly visit both. The activities provided during the school holidays are always fun. An excellent place to visit.

The museum is really informative, but the underground tour really brings things to life. The guide on our trip was Paul, who was excellent. He described everything really well, answered all our questions, but also brought a lot of humour to his tour. The tour itself takes you through the various transitions of mining, from the pre-Victorian age, though to modern day, and the only thing I can say is that I have a new-found respect for miners and the working conditions they face, even today.

I went for a free running/ gym class on Sunday(Today) and really enjoyed it! The prices are not too bad and it is a great place to just do what everybody want with gym equipment, within reason. The 2 coaches were really nice and I managed to do my front flip!!! 5 STARS! Definitely recommend.
