NATIONAL COAL MINING MUSEUM FOR ENGLAND REVIEWS
Highly recommended if you are looking for a fantastic experience. You have to do the mine tour! The guides are genuine ex-miners so they really know what they are talking about. The stories they tell are fascinating, really interesting. There are a number of museum buildings to explore on the site, as well as a small railway using the man riders and a battery loco. You can use the train to easily go from one side of the site to the other. I wouldn't recommend it for young children, but 10 and over would be perfect.
What a fantastic day! The underground tour of the mine, descending 140 meters in the lift, proved to be a truly enlightening experience. The guides, all former miners, exhibited a remarkable passion and a wealth of knowledge. The museum in itself stands as an invaluable source of information, providing a glimpse into the past.
Brilliant, can't fault any of it. The underground tour was amazing, eric our guide, what a guy very knowledgeable, I respect these guys and the job he does now, and in the past. Can't recommend this tour highly enough. Thank you eric.

WAKEFIELD MUSEUM REVIEWS
A fine example of a good local museum. There's lots of interesting items and displays telling the story of Wakefield and its people. There's plenty to appeal to families with young children, too. An enjoyable trip down memory lane!
This is a fascinating museum, having displays such as animals, ornaments and tools in its spacious area! It is also well-organized, placing artifacts from specific time periods in the same glass boxes. Navigation in the museum is able to be done with ease since there are signs for all the floors, which you are able to go in lifts to. The staircase itself is massive, serving the clean museum well alongside its lifts!
Went to an organised session for children during the school holidays. Great learning experience for them and a chance for them to learn about the past. Some interesting exhibits to take you back in time.
