Fantastic museum, art gallery, play area, tourist office, cafe, toilets. it really has it all, in a wonderful building too. Free of charge, it should be experienced, especially for young families as children can be kept occupied on the ground floor, whilst adults take it in turns to explore upstair. Cannot recommend it highly enough for young parents that want a moments respite.

They exhibit work by established artists as well as finding new and exciting talent - Contemporary Modern Art Gallery In the centre of Canterbury

Mon - Sat 9:30 am - 5:00 pm Sun 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

This is a wonderful gallery with a down to earth and passionate owner. There is an eclectic collection to suit all tastes from more traditional figures painted in oils to taxidermy. There are big names here such as Hirst and Emin as well as hitherto unknown talents. I am a regular visitor and there is always new artwork to enjoy. The Canterbury and Folkestone Lilford galleries in my opinion are unmatched anywhere else in Kent.

Just walking inside gives you a welcome and presence of the past, especially the medieval undercroft, which has quite a few musical events throughout the year from Jazz to medieval nights. It also has exhibitions from various artists throughout the year, which so far have been very different and interesting. With Life drawing classes and Art Workshops it is a very active and used space - the building and people give you a warm welcome - I can't wait to return. I understand you can book/hire.
