The castle features two great towers, with a gatehouse serving as the entrance. The Normans built the first fortress at this location in 1081 to defend Cardiff. Visitors can exchange their existing resident pass for a new monument pass at Castell Coch free of charge. The castle is adorned with dazzling ceilings and extravagant furnishings.

Insole Court has an impressive historic mansion, and its gardens have a fascinating history dating back 160 years. “This House is a Stage” is an exhibition that brings local history to life by dramatically portraying the rise and fall of the Insole family, who built and inhabited the mansion. The formerly derelict Stable Yard has been transformed into a vibrant hub, hosting community, corporate, and private functions, as well as serving freshly baked cakes, brunch, and lunch seven days a week. There is free access to Vaughan Avenue via pedestrian entrances. Visitors can also explore both the ground floor of the mansion and the ornamental gardens at no charge. Insole Court is a wonderful place to spend leisure time with your family.
