CENTRAL PARK REVIEWS

This park is beautiful and has lots of picnic space. Children's up to 12 years of age, closed/gated/fenced playground with many fun things to do. Large pong with fountains, there is a cafe with drinks and outside seating, basketball and tennis court, skating area, and a few benches, or attend one of the many concerts in the park! Chill next to the river or take a stroll with a 5-minute walk to the city centre and high street, or go to the gym for a workout/sauna/steam room/pool or softplay for the little ones. I like to sit on the grass on dry and warmer days and remenice. You can watch the trains come into Chelmsford station or play ping pong on the two tables next to the playground. You may be a cricket fan and check out the cricket programmes. There are many roses and the park is well kept. Enjoy!

A really spacious park slap bang in the centre of town. Lovely trees, flower beds, kids play areas, skate boarding ramps, a lake with fountains, a river running along one side and a Cafe to name but a few attractions. It was a sunny Sunday when I was there along with many others enjoying the fresh air. There are plenty of benches to sit and take a rest, although many groups were sat on the grass eating picnics or ice creams or just soaking up the sunshine. I will definitely add this to my list of "nice walking places". I remember going here when I was a child and later as a teenager when the Chelmsford Carnival Fair was held there. Special memories for me in Central Park.

Great park which my four year old loves! A tunnel under the road to walk through, plenty of green space, the river, ducks to feed (buy duck food at the Central Park Cafe for 50p a bag), fountains, a viaduct with trains going past regularly, and a great play area with equipment suitable for all ages up to 12. Nice and close to the city centre, too!

OAKLANDS PARK REVIEWS

This is a surprisingly large park centred round the Chelmsford Museum. Quiet first thing in the morning so parking not a problem – may not be the case later in the day. Popular with dog walkers as there is a lot of space, there is also an early morning exercise group. Looked a good place to take children with a separate sectioned off play area.

Very well maintained gardens with plenty of landmarks ands what i presume is free to use facilities like the park and tennis court. People found their way into the court anyway. Dog friendly, family friendly, couples friendly, walking friendly. Ill come again when the museums open.

Very much a locals park, not that far from the town centre. Small park which is perfect for dog walking and children's play areas. Lovely cafe for a drink and bite to eat. The museum is worth a look. Shame that the council now charge for the tennis courts.

Very Nice Park, with a playground for all children ages( 3-14) and football and tennis grounds for the older kids. Also great natural walks both Paved and Unpaved in which follow the river Can. These are great for a walk with the dog.
