We are regular visitors to Colchester Zoo & are so lucky to have it on our doorstep! There is always something new to see here as they are always growing & developing. You can see that there is continual investment in upgrading enclosures for the animals & areas for visitors. The talks & shows are always very good & informative. Unlike some other zoos there is also a lot of things to see & do indoors in case of wet weather. The only downside is that it is on quite a hilly area. A great day out.

It's amazing that the gravel garden is free to see as it's lovely to walk around even before heading into the gardens. It was our first time here, and we were really impressed by the garden layout and quality of the planting. I had read some reviews already posted before going, and I do agree that for the entry cost, there are much larger gardens to be found, but for me that was part of the beauty. It was compact so it was possible to walk around completely in the time we had & very good value.

Visited with my 8 and 3 year old children whilst on a trip to the town centre. We all really enjoyed it. We spent around 40 minutes walking around and really liked the dolls houses and clocks. The children both loved that there were things they could touch. It was detailed enough to keep my 8 year old untreated and prompted him to ask question about what life in the house might have been like but it was short and simple enough to not bore my 3 year old who particularly liked the toys on display.
