The staff here I found to be exceptional in every way. They were kind, polite and very helpful. The room was clean and tidy (Thank you Sara). My wife enjoyed the swimming pool. The food in the restaurant was well prepared and very tasty indeed, but I felt a little expensive. The breakfast was amazing!!

Absolutely wonderful stay as always. Staff always friendly and helpful. Any issues gets resolved with ease. Elaine in restaurant is such a wonderful person who always remembers us and makes our girls feel so special. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Love coming here.

Great location to stay, Every thing you want to go and visit ie Colchester zoo Colchester Castle, not far from coast to visit Walton, Clacton Frinton, seaside resorts.

Fantastic stay! We got upgraded to a Junior suite that was positioned away from the main corridor, there was no noise disturbance and plenty of plugs. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfy, and the bath was deep. We ordered room service one night and had breakfast, the food was cooked perfectly. The staff were lovely and the location was perfect, only a few minutes walk away from Colchester Castle. Our room had stairs leading to the bathroom so please be aware of this if you have accessibility needs. Would stay again.

On arrival a very friendly reception. Never to much trouble to help. Well worth the 5 star rating. Interesting history of the building. Organized tour of the hotel recommended. Breakfast was superb, probably the best we have experienced. Dinner was expensive but well prepared and delicious. All in all a must stay place if visiting Colchester.

Stayed here a number of times and never been disappointed. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms comfy and clean, breakfast is tasty with lots of choice. Perfect spot for visiting Colchester and surrounding areas. Easy access to the park and the town centre.

Excellent service from front of house employees, all very helpful and happy. PRIYA even printed off the history of the establishment which was very interesting and informative. DEFINITELY a stay that was different in an old part of Colchester. Room was unique and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value and the produce was of very good quality. Definitely will return to this establishment if we are ever to return to the area, full marks given for value and professionalism. The Hotel is unique being over 500 yrs old and has been renovated to the original plans, very comfortable lounge and dining areas. Bar served most drinks and was very nice too. We'll done to all who work here, a credit to the hospitality industry.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Excellent room and a really comfy bed. Also got tucked in by a friendly ghost in the early hours. Would definitely stay here again. Staff really friendly and accommodating. The bar was definitely worth a visit in the hotel. Great location-20 min walk from town. Really beautiful building full of history . Thankyou

Wonderful old building but in good repair - my room was most comfortable but lacked a mirror in the bedroom. Wide range of breakfast items - freshly cooked to order. Would return.
