BEST WESTERN THE ROSE AND CROWN HOTEL REVIEWS
In the middle of Colchester stands this beautiful old building. Quirky with lots of twists and turns you get from one part of the building to another without leaving reception even though you can walk through the car park. Rooms were nice and warm, very comfortable and very clean. Attended for a wedding stayed over staff were excellent this k you.
I was quite taken by this hotel. I prefer places with a bit of personality, and this hotel has that. 13th century building, the look and feel of that time has been preserved. All that said, the rooms were quite modern, comfortable, and very clean. Breakfast was generous and the local ale was quite drinkable. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Wonderful old building but in good repair - my room was most comfortable but lacked a mirror in the bedroom. Wide range of breakfast items - freshly cooked to order. Would return.

GREYFRIARS LUXURY HOTEL & RESTAURANT REVIEWS
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this establishment recently, and I must say that our experience was truly exceptional. We had the opportunity to dine at the in-house restaurant, where we were delighted with the delectable cuisine. However, what truly elevated our experience was the service provided by an extraordinary young woman, whose vibrant half-purple, half-black hair caught our attention. Regrettably, we cannot recall her name, but we can assure you that her professionalism, knowledge, and warm demeanor were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, the only drawback we encountered during our stay was that the rooms appeared somewhat outdated.
On arrival a very friendly reception. Never to much trouble to help. Well worth the 5 star rating. Interesting history of the building. Organized tour of the hotel recommended. Breakfast was superb, probably the best we have experienced. Dinner was expensive but well prepared and delicious. All in all a must stay place if visiting Colchester.
Very central hotel with a car park. The rooms are quite large, conversions from old town houses. The glass atrium has a smell, which is not good. The restaurant is lovely, but the prices are too high for my comfort. Breakfast was good, but table service is not as convenient as a buffet when busy. The room I was in needed some tlc.
