Absolutely love this museum suitable for little tiny babies and toddlers to teenagers and adults. It's free to get into. Lots to read and absolutely tonnes to look at and do. Absolutely amazing. Wish the cafe restaurant was a little cheaper but I guess it's how they make money and keep running as the museum is free to get into and the food is amazing anyway so I do understand it. And the free water I saw dotted about I just thought was so thoughtful! Thanks for a great cheap day out!

I have been to a lot of museums across the world and this would have to be my all time favourite I wish I lived closer so I could keep going back to read & see things I missed the first trip. It was so informative, the exhibits and displays were so well set up. I learnt so much, the history from every era was such an eye opener. The artefacts that store are amazing, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely plan for a good 3 hours here. The gift shop was very extensive. I just loved.

Jorvik Viking Centre recreates the life of Vikings in York based on many archaeological artifacts found. Many of those are also presented in an exhibition, but the attraction is the pods you sit in while they take you through the recreated village and a voice (you can select a language from a wide variety) explains what you are seeing. We were worried by stories of the smell but within minutes we did not smell it. The 15 minutes sit-in-a-pod respite from a long day of walking.
