3 Best Places To Visit in York, UK

We love York Castle Museum. You can spend hours in there, absolutely great value for money. We especially liked the Victorian street and the prison displays. There was a female member of staff on the Victorian street and she was absolutely lovely. She was a fountain of knowledge and allowed my son photos with her. We enjoyed the interactive machines that could be used also. Absolutely recommend and will return. The cafe in the museum is reasonably priced with lovely drinks and cakes. We didn’t eat so I can’t comment on the food available. Lovely day, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We had a fantastic time today with my wife and youngest daughter. There was so much to see and do . It's definitely well worth a visit. The highlight of the visit was one of your team members ( Yaz ) who was very knowledgeable of everything. A credit to the overall experience of the visit. Please pass on our kind comments to them.

Wow this was so so good! I took my three girls and they interacted with every single part. Lots of dressing up, learning, there is an outside part with games! We got awesome photos and your ticket lasts a full year. Really recommend.

This was well coordinated. Booking tickets at least the day before early on is a must, spaces fill up quick and you can't book on the day on the website. We arrived 10 mins early as requested and waited in line for the group in front to go in. Think it was 15 min gaps between groups so expect to wait approximately that time. We went through and saw the replica of the viking level floor which was explained to us by a couple of the people that worked there that were dressed up in authentic clothing. We queued about 10 mins to get onto the ride. The ride has a screen and you pick your language for the narration on the way round. Unfortunately when we went on, it broke down! This meant we missed some things on the narration of scenes when we went round but they asked if we wanted to go around again which we did for the full experience which was much better! Great little tour and experience of life back then. The museum of the artifacts they found when excavating was really lovely, with full descriptions of the items and trades across the world at the time. Very informative.

An interesting museum with plenty of history and insight into the Viking period of York. The ride was good and it offered great historical information into the Viking era of this city that dates back to 866 AD. They have many artifacts discovered from the Coppergate Dig that took place from 1976-1981. On display here are skeletons of a male and two women, beads, metal swords, cutlery and cookware, socks, shoes, clothing etc. The ride is nice and slow and nothing to worry about. You can select a language for the narration to suit your needs. If you are into Viking history it is worth the trip. They offer options for purchase including child and senior discounts. Staff are informative and eager to share information all you have to do is stop. The value for money was well worth it. Allow an hour to visit and then there is a gift shop.

We loved Jorvik, even though the viking smells were 'pungent'! The kids loved that we got to ride in a little car around the viking village. Staff were really knowledgeable and great with all the visitors.
