“John Hansard Gallery specialises in exhibitions, painting, sculpture and photography, filming, artists' performances, installations, digital media, etc. The gallery was relocated in 2018. The gallery is named after John Henry Hansard (1895–1979). Their staff is very friendly and informative to their clients. Their programme consists of five exhibitions per year at their main site in Highfield. They have innovative off-site projects in other citywide locations and touring projects with galleries and institutions elsewhere in the UK. They have a diverse collection of professional art. They deliver polite service to their clients. John Hansard Gallery affords free admission.

2025 Update: Woodrow Kernohan is the director of the gallery. The gallery's mission is to support artists and provide a collaborative space for the community.”

“Sea Sky Design is very neat and tidy and also has many art collections. They have and best collections of art. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable and provide affordable service to their clients. They sell original art, jewellery, and decorative objects sourced from established and emerging makers worldwide. They also provide workshops and courses to educate the people. Susie and Debbie have created not only a shop full of beautiful things but also a unique venue for classes and workshops. They also behave genuinely with their clients.

2025 Update: They run workshops and creative classes including painting, life drawing, sketching, mixed media, printmaking and crafting, all led by professional, experienced artists and teachers.”

Amazing free public resource set alongside all the consumerism and gaudy frivolities of Southampton's Christmas season - pop in for a short breath of fresh ideas or stay longer and get to the bottom of some of these intriguing and inspiring works on show.

Visited the gallery today to try and get some information about the venue from staff who were all extremely helpful, knowledgable and friendly.

Excellent place to visit. Went with my teenage daughter and we were both very impressed. Highly recommended.

Really beautiful place, a newly renovated arts and event space with the most welcoming of owners. Don’t miss the chance to visit here, to this little peaceful haven.

Wow! Such a unique gallery, a real inspiration. Beautiful art, a great mix and all in a location to die for! Fabulous!

I have visited this shop with several different friends since moving nearby last year. This place is literally an end if the rainbow experience! Inspiring, eclectic, innovative, supporting local artists & community...which brings me neatly on to my experience on 6th Nov. Myself & best friend attended a treasure box workshop. I am not often lost for words but this was an incredible experience. Debbie was an expert facilitator seeing to our very niche needs & skilling us up to enable us to create with our own styles. She was also great fun & we learned alot in the process, almost as a bonus we were thrilled with our treasure box frames. What an absolute delight & vibe this place has!

Such a lovely shop, with a wide range of unusual, artisanal products to shop from. Great for gifts and decor - we love our coastal rope knot keyring! Susie was so kind and even managed to keep our 4yo entertained for a bit with a magical marble toy while we chatted! Wish we were a little more local to attend the workshops.

Lovely local shop. Very friendly staff. Well worth a visit. They do evening classes for those what want to learn crafts. There's always new stock to check out.
