I recently had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at Hook Fish & Chips, and it’s safe to say it was an unforgettable experience. From the incredible food to the warm service and inviting atmosphere, this place is a seafood lover’s paradise. I started with their classic fish and chips, and it was a revelation. The fish was unbelievably fresh, coated in a perfectly light and crispy batter that wasn’t greasy at all. The chips were equally fantastic—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, seasoned just right. A standout addition to the meal was the curry sauce. This rich, savory sauce added an amazing depth of flavor to the fish and chips, with just the right amount of spice to elevate the dish without overpowering it. It was a delightful twist that made each bite even more enjoyable. To complement the main dish, I also tried their onion rings, and they were a highlight in their own right. These golden rings were crispy and flavorful, with a perfect balance between the crunchy exterior and the tender onion inside. Paired with the curry sauce, they were an absolute treat.

Care and attention and dare I say it, love have gone into making the food here! Excellent freshly cooked fish & chips, with a superb home made tartare sauce on the side. Decent portion sizes and environmentally-aware packaging and such a warm and friendly crew - worth going down South St for.

We really enjoyed the fish and chips here and maybe these were the best fish and chips we ever had. Staff was incredibly friendly too and the prices are more than fair. We would definitely come back.

Having been told about this chippy from a local in Exeter that I stopped. I walked the 13 mins tot he shop. The service was excellant and the portion very decent. Service with a smile. Wrapped up well fro my walk back to the hotel. Next time im in Exeter definately will return. Niece to find a tradiitonal Fish and Ship shop. The fish was really meaty and was delicious.

Such friendly lady always serving the manager I think, great portions too. Always explains if somethings different to normal so you know before you order! Great sense of humour and a proper chippy atmosphere. Only one I go to in Exeter.

Superb haddock and chips! this place is under new management and you can tell. the haddock was so huge it could barely fit in the box! The batter was light and crispy and the fish was cooked to perfection! see you next week.

Just came here for lunch, ordered 2 chip buttys 2 battered sausages and some curry sauce. Firstly the portions are insane. Enough food to feed a family. Secondly the best battered sausage I've ever had. And finally the chips were lovely. Guy behind the counter was really friendly and service was top notch. Would 100% recommend this place.

Just moved to Exwick and this shop is literally right on my door step. I've been twice and the food is absolutely gorgeous. The two girls at the front are very welcoming and kind... Will be my new local. Thank you.

Voted for by my Scouts, as one of the top chip shops this side of the river. Very tasty and great service. Thankyou very much.
