3 Best French Restaurants in Cardiff, UK

Having heard good comments about this venue, we had never eaten there before. A few weeks ago we visited but it was full, so we booked this week and we were not disappointed. The food was plentiful and good, and seeing it prepared was a bonus. The atmosphere was very conducive, and we had a very nice, relaxed meal. We will be back soon.

Finally managed to get here, and it was worth waiting for. A lovely croque madame for me with french onion soup for the boss. Might only have been lunch but can't wait to come back. Glad we rang in advance and reserved a table as numerous people were turned away as it was at capacity.

One of the best meals I have ever had fantasy food fantastic price perfect service highly recommend. The lamb roast and onion soup is some of the best I've ever had.

Four of us came here last night and had an amazing time. Our server Harry was very attentive and friendly, offering his knowledge on wines and the menu when asked. The food was 10/10 and really flavourful, and Harry later came over offering more steak with our mains. The atmosphere as well is lovely, we really enjoyed the live performance too and the restaurant itself is beautiful. When Harry overheard we were here celebrating a birthday he came over with complimentary ice cream which was a lush surprise. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back in the future.

Obsessed! I love this place. The restaurant is in the beautiful arcade. The interior is lovely, really traditional, cosy, fab lighting and feel very authentic Parisian bistro vibes. Service was really lovely. The menu is a fixed prix, and very small. 3 starters, two mains (only really offer steak and chips) and 3 puds, but as long as you know that it’s a case of what they do, they do exceptionally well. I had escargot, and they were really good, not to earthy or grassy, plump and teeming with garlic herb butter! Main was fab, steak rare was more perfect medium rare, just how I like it. Fries were fantastic and serve with small green salad and a lovely home secrete sauce (defiantly some mustard and anchovies in there). A wonderful surprise was a top up of steak and offer if more fires half way through!!! I was too stuffed for pudding which was a shame. Cocktails were excellent, and a really good wine list. Small criticisms… the baguette with the starter was very average, the plate for the main was too small to really be able to eat the salad off of as well, and a few more options for wine by the glass would be great. But none of that detracted from this wonderful dining experience.

We visited Madison de Beouf for my partner’s birthday and had a lovely evening. The starters were fantastic. For mains, my partner thoroughly enjoyed the steak (and was delighted when they offered extra!). As a vegetarian, I tried the plant based steak with vegetarian sauce. It was pleasant enough, though not something I’d be excited to order again. But the portion of chips were very generous. That said, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff were attentive making the evening even more enjoyable. Overall, a great experience, especially for steak lovers!
