We saw the last night of the comedy festival which was Russell Kane. This venue is the second biggest in Harrogate after the conference centre and is attracting some big names after its expensive renovation. The show was hysterically funny with quite a few swear words and adult material so it's a complete mystery why children were allowed in or why any sensible parent would have taken their 14 year old son and his friend. Victoria Gardens, Station Square, Harrogate HG1 2SG

Since 1887

Landmarks, Architecture Structure, Historical Places, Heritage Site, Monuments & Statues

The statue stands on a high plinth and rising above the statute is a tall spire that provides cover for it - It is great to see these kind of monuments in towns across the country paying tribute to thier history and heritage

Call for Hours

Just across from the railway station is a small garden area with a large monument with a statue of Queen Victoria. It is to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 1887 Interestingly Alderman Ellis donated this statue to Harrogate along with the land it stands on inserting a clause that if Harrogate ever removed the statue, the land would revert back to the Ellis family. So hopefully she shall remain here for very long time. So interesting finding out about these old monuments and statutes.
