“National Roman Legion Museum is a well-known visitor attraction in Newport, UK. The museum is inside the fortress and houses many Roman artifacts, including currency and uniforms. In 1850, the first building, known as the Antiquarian Museum, was constructed. This building was listed as Grade II in 1951 but was completely demolished during the museum's reconstruction and expansion in 1987. The National Roman Legion Museum is one of three Roman sites in Caerleon, alongside the Baths Museum and the open-air ruins of the amphitheater and barracks. The reconstructed building was designed in a modernist style that is featureless and windowless as the original. The National Roman Legion Museum will continue to offer facilities for local schools.”
