Such a unique hidden place with such a unique history. Came here on a sunny Saturday afternoon and it was just the perfect vibe. Food was great, coffee was great etc. Only the service was a bit slow (wait time around 40 min) and one of the items we ordered was never made but we got refunded for it in the end so it all ended well. Can’t wait to come back.

If you're into old wee pubs this can be the place for you. As one of the oldest in the city it definitely has it's charme. The food was great as is the selection of drinks. There is also plenty of space to enjoy your stay in the sun on one of their several terraces.

The best fish and chips I have ever had. And their Beyond Meat burger was outstanding, better than I have had in Austin, Texas where I am from. Need to download their app to order food at the table. The low-beamed front bar area was put in place sometime in the 17th century.

Brilliant lunch at The Red Lion on a quiet Tuesday in August. We opted for the set menu and were delighted with the choice but especially with the quality and presentation of the food. The chef delivers fantastic dishes. Wait staff is friendly, competent and knowledgeable, especially our server Alison. Good selection of English and foreign beers on tap, including a no-alcohol draft beer. It's a big place with several different types of indoor seating (high tables with stools; comfy chairs at tables; upholstered bench seats and large tables, and more) plus a large outdoor garden area. Plenty of room for families, couples, groups of friends, etc. Oh, and did I mention dessert? We were going to be good and not have any, but the first two courses of our lunch were so good, we couldn't resist! Highly recommended.

I recently visited to the red lion and I was so impressed! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by Stephen and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The menu has a variety of dishes that were cooked perfectly. The service was prompt and the team were very knowledgeable and offered great recommendations. It was a great experience and I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal in Oxford.

My family and I arrived hungry and eager for a pub lunch and we left satiated, replete and utterly happy. The atmosphere was great, food was fantastic and the service impeccable. Alison kept a close watch over us and made sure we had everything we needed and she did a fabulous job with great humour and personality. I had a Dirty Burger which was 'ooohhhh' and 'mmmmm' at every bite. My wife had the King Prawn and Crab Linguine and our murmurs of appreciation were a stereo performance through lunch. My daughter has a nut allergy and Alison made sure to go through everything with her to ensure our holiday wasn't spoiled by epipens, visits to the hospital and whatnots. Daughter's partner and my sister both had pies and my son had a different burger. I can't tell you which (are there more than 2 burgers?) because he is lying fast asleep near me as I type this the next morning, probably dreaming of the lunch he had yesterday. All in all, a wonderful lunch (mine lubricated with a delectable Neck Oil) and if we were not just passing through on our holiday road trip, we would surely drop by again for more laughs, great food and a wonderful time. Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere, service, food and drinks. Eamon was an excellent host, making the whole experience memorable. Venue had great meal options- all of which were delicious. Pub is close to the main centre and tourist attractions. We thoroughly recommend this venue when visiting Oxford.

Lovely staff, well-kept and clean pub. Lots of screens & availability. Great menu variety, caters for Vegan too. Tasty brekky!

Nice place to have a drink with friends. A lot of seats and large TV. The atmosphere is pretty good. Friendly staff Raj chatted with us warmly.
