THE TASTY PLAICE REVIEWS

The staff were so friendly, couldn’t recommend them more. They set up a table for us on a Friday night whilst closing down and gave us cutlery and free sauces. The food is exactly what we wanted. Ample food served piping hot. Thank you two weary travellers.

On arrival, l was told my order would take 10 minutes. I asked for cod and chips, haddock and chips both with mushy pies. All cooked as l waited. Portion size was great and tasted amazing. Plan to return.

Ordered cod and chips, the cod was amazing nice and hot with crispy batter and the chips were to die for, nice and fresh and potatoes seemed to be of high quality plus the extremely friendly staff made the experience even better, definitely the best fish and chips I have had.

We're new to Newbury & still trying out new places & finding our favourites, I think it safe to say after one visit to Captain Cod we will be back. A warm friendly welcome, lovely service the entire time we were there & the quality of the food was excellent. We all had the fish & chips, and couldn't fault them at all. However, we saw the burgers and we will definitely be back to try them at some point because they looked amazing! What an excellent visit we had. Thank you very much everyone at Captain Cod.

I've ordered twice from here now, friendly staff and lovely food. I expected it to be so busy at just 7pm on a Saturday. The decor looks a bit tired but the food makes up for that. Definitely worth a visit. Very reasonable prices too.

The fish and chips here are SPECTACULAR! My four year old and I came for lunch today. My child attacked my plate! The fish is huge and the chips are thick. The food was so hot and excellent, also great prices.

My favourite chip shop in Newbury. Food is cooked fresh to order and very tasty. The staff are super friendly and chatty. It’s good service and a huge menu that caters very well for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The shop is clean and tidy. All round 5 stars.

A huge thank you for catering our quiz night, we phoned our order through and collected within half an hour, food was delicious and fresh and everyone enjoyed it. Thank you for being so helpful and going out of your way to help us, we were thrilled.

The food is delicious and decent portion size. We have just had £12 off our meal for collecting stamps on the reward card too! Sometimes we have to reheat the pie but everything else is always piping hot.
