We always head to this pub during summer while on holiday. Great atmosphere and the food is consistently very good. You will find a choice of British faves cooked to perfection along with great beer. Dogs are welcome and sometimes there is live entertainment and board games for the family. Well planned out seating inside and outside alongside a pretty canal and flowers. It's a must if you are visiting Newbury.

Nice little country pub that was well maintained on the river, which is a nice setting. The service was friendly and the menu was nice. The whiting was fresh and crispy, and the scotch egg was warm fluffy. I couldn't fault the pub. However, to spice up my experience, there was a couple high as a kite in the garden outside the pub getting it on, which was the ying to the yang.

Came here on a friday afternoon, lovely welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and was served either straight away or with only a few minutes wait. Had the fish and chips, theyve defonatly done the national.dish proud. Fish was moist and flakey. Batter had great flavour and wasnt greasy in the slightest. Tables were being cleared regularly so very clean place. Beer slightly ecpensive of which im assuming is due to the location. However I tried the IPA on draft and was great quality. 100% will be returning.

Great pub in a beautiful market town. We can not comment on food as have not eaten here 'yet'... although will look to when we return to Newbury. Great variety of drinks to choose from. The atmosphere was A* we were here in June and were lucky to watch/listen to #Dopamine perform.. utterly first class entertainment in the lean too/outside area. Totally recommend this place.

Really enjoyed my chicken pie, mash and mushy peas at the Catherine Wheel. Staff were friendly, it has a ‘real’ pub vibe and still quite busy on a wet Tuesday evening in October.

What can I say. Pie and mash. Done very well, with lots of different options to cater to all. The gravy is spot on too.Good value for money, Not to mention the bar having a good selection on top at reasonable prices (for Newbury). t's nice to go have a drink and warm filling meal after work on a Friday afternoon. Especially in the winter.

Staff are very friendly, food is excellent and a wide range of drinks and cocktails. We had the sharer roast platter for 2 and it was amazing! Highly recommend.

Lovely place and food but food a bit different to a lot of pub restraunts so if you like to try the unusual tastes you would love this place.
