“The Barn Garden Centre & Café is a family-owned cafe that serves delicious coffee, cakes, and home-cooked breakfast and lunch. Just outstanding, great value, amazing service and beautiful atmosphere! What’s not to like. We popped in for a breakfast and chat and the service is so good. Would strongly recommend the full breakfast, the vegan and veggie options are outstanding too.

The staff are very friendly and create a welcoming environment for their customers. I tried the cajun chicken burger and it was so lush! The soya latte I ordered had pretty latte art and was class as well. The cafe offers a wide range of gluten free and vegan options that cater to customers which I admire. I also appreciate the garden aesthetic of the cafe, it's very unique out of all the cafes I've been to in Colchester :)

You won’t be disappointed by a visit to this garden centre or the cafe. Just remember to book a table as it gets very busy. Staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Lots of choice on the menu and the quality of food is very good. Will return again!

My partner and I love this place for a hot drink (their decaf is one of the only decafs I find palatable!) Owned and run by a charming doctor and his afable father, the atmosphere is always good, and they make a real effort to decorate for special occasions, like Easter, Valentines day etc. Have witnessed some people trying to just walk in off of the street and use the loo without buying anything. There is no need to be disrespectful to people trying to run a business when there are public toilets a few minutes walk away, at Firstsite and near Boots, that can be easily reached and used for free. All in all, we are lucky to have such a great addition to our community.

I discovered this place three years ago and since then I kept coming back weekly and brought all my friends with me. The cafe is a family business so the owner and the staff are always extremely nice and welcoming, the coffee is amazing and the food menu is very diverse, but I must say that their carrot cake is probably the most amazing option you are going to have. If you are in Colchester, I would recommend paying them a visit.

The interior design is so aesthetically pleasing to the eye and perfect for pictures, the layout of things is so easy to find what you want. The service is so nice, kind and helpful. Food is amazingly delicious while the atmosphere is calm and peaceful.

Alway look forward to a mug of Costa coffee when shopping at Tollgate, we tried their sandwiches for the first time, we were surprised at how fresh and tasty they were. Never had a bad experience in any of the coffee shops.
