We go to The Lamp Room regularly for breakfast, which is always amazing. Tonight, we were there with a North Easterner who now lives in Oxford area for our first experience of an evening meal. Paul and my wife shared some lovely tapas and I had fillet steak (with chips, mushrooms, onion bahjee and peppercorn sauce) - I also opted for a lovely seasoned tomato and feta salad. All the food was delicious. The service was very friendly - nothing was a bother. Booking was also very easy on their online page. This is the jewel in the crown that Seaham is.

Very popular and rightly so. Quality food, well presented. Bought 2 cheese scones to take out too!! Tip.... take real money/coins to reward the good service.

Really gorgeous food here,especially the starters and mains,desserts ok.Really nice,friendly service and a lovely place.

Found this charming place last night and v glad we did! The venue is quirky and welcoming. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was excellent, with real attention to detail. Shame it's not open again tonight.

A great little find …… First visit to this wonderful little restaurant. Didn’t know that this place existed even though I’ve walked past it hundreds of times. A wonderful find in Durham City which is now full of chain restaurants. An intimate venue with fabulous food and very friendly staff who provided a great personal service. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.

Gary the manager, what a lovely, professional lovely guy. Food was beautiful, highly recommended service second to none. Not in eat and out gary has fantastic way about him. Decor beautiful. I had lamb daughter had seafood linguistics, both had cheesecake baked beautiful.

First time here since it was taken over, absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch. I had sirloin and my wife had slow cooked brisket, just melted in your mouth. Various veg, cooked perfectly, topped with a lovely gravy. We were stuffed but couldn't resist a dessert, I had sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. Staff were so friendly and service was impeccable, can't wait to go back and try a steak as they look amazing.

First time visiting tonight. Food was delicious. I had the pan fried sea bass, hubby had the squid/pork/ belly pork spewers. Very tasty. Prompt service with a lovely smile. We ate in the restaurant which was lovely. We’ll visit again most definitely.

Came for lunch today with a friend who has food allergies. The menu, as at most places, was full of spices etc. But after explaining to the lady serving she was brilliant and assured us that the chef would prepare my friend’s dishes separately to her requirements and there would be no cross contamination. The food was great for both of us. I would heartily recommend.
