THE CELLAR DOOR REVIEWS

My son and I had a delicious meal, celebrating the finish of his university studies. The menu choice was perfect; service excellent; flavours superb and food visually attractive with complementary flavours and well balanced; ambient surroundings. Sadly it was too cold to eat outside on the lovely terrace overlooking the river, but we will be back, so fingers crossed for warmer weather next time!

Amazing food as always. The beef Wellington is always a winner and the desserts are so good. It was my first time having a chocolate fondant in over ten years! Gigi is an amazing host she is always kind and accommodating and makes every visit special. I look forward to seeing her every time I come back!

Quite the spot. If you’re looking for REALLY good food in Durham, get a table here, staff are very welcoming and friendly; The menu is incredible and every dish will impress. Had Hari as my waiter, he was fantastic and helped us a lot with our choices. Couldn’t ask for more!

ROSE TREE INN REVIEWS

This a a very friendly pub, with excellent food and drink in a nice location next to the River Wear. We were a party of four, with 2 dogs. One of our party is disabled, so we were able to use a convenient disabled parking space, and make our way into the pub using the ramps for the wheelchair. It is very dog friendly and even includes a doggy menu, although we did not take advantage of this. The food and service was excellent, and the pub also boasts a good selection of ales. The portion sizes were very generous and we were able to get a doggy bag to take the remaining portions back home with us. It's nice to enjoy such a nice establishment like this.

Food was excellent, big portions so bring your appetite or a doggy bag, garlic chicken with king prawns, cooked perfect and very tasty, the steak and ale pie was deep filled with very tender steak, and baked cod outstanding, we were 3 ladies lunching and catching up, food, company and restaurant were excellent, defo be back.

Went for lunch today food awesome as usual and staff very friendly will be back again had lambs liver mash and veg the apple and cinnamon crumble and custard really good and lovely pub.

Lovely meal, large portions and very tasty. My mam and partner got the cod and it was massive. Well impressed . I got the gammon, came with egg, chips, tomatoes, onion rings, mushrooms and I asked for extra pineapple. Staff were lovely and friendly too. We will defo be back

A regular visitor to this wonderful pub. Dropped in on the off chance of a table & was seated straightaway. Had my all time favourite - mince & dumplings (cheese & red onion). Great food at a great price. Our waitress was so helpful & friendly - thank you!

Lovely pub, good selection of beers, super friendly staff, and the food is plentiful and a good price. Portions were very big. Ours was delicious. I had the Yorkshire pud wrapped beef. It had a vast amount of sliced beef in it.
