Highly recommend. I was really impressed with the tuna Ragu starter it was almost like mince but with that fresh tuna taste. The mussels were fantastic meaty and sweet not a chewy overcooked one in sight. The boys had the thai fish curry it smelt amazing big chunks of fish with a potion of jasmine rice our mussels came with a potion of thin chips I had a small handful and the boys had the rest. The sponge was heavenly, mum had the crème caramela personal, My brother had the chocolate mousse the berries were tasty and fresh the mousse was actually mousse like. Definitely one to try.

It's an old adage but absolutely true, you get what you pay for in this place. Premium seafood cooked right in front of you. Third time back, fish stew is awesome. Top drawer quality ingredients, can highly recommend........below picture my wife's basque cod.

We have been here several times, mostly for the oysters which have always been very fresh and gorgeous. We have tried the oyster tasting platter which offers one the opportunity to try three different types of oysters and they were all excellent. I would positively recommend this place for seafood lovers. They also offer seafood to buy for home, we bought some fantastic extra large tiger prawns which were great after some quick pan-frying.

I was aware that this restaurant has been around for many years but I had never given it a try until recently. We went on a Saturday evening at 9pm and it was maybe half full. I had phoned to book a couple of days in advance for 9.30pm but was told that it was a bit late for them and could we bring it forward to 9. While we were there people were coming in after 9.30 without any problem. The food was very good and the vegetable spring rolls were the best We have ever had. Spare ribs in Cantonese sauce were also great. For mains I had sliced lamb in house special curry sauce and my partner had stir fried king prawns in green pepper and black bean sauce along with egg fried rice. Both mains were delicious. Along with a glass of nice white wine and a lager the bill came to £60 which I thought was decent value for money. Staff were really nice and attentive without being overbearing. All in all, we had a good night and we will be back again maybe even at 9.30 or later.

Fab food at reasonable price. The service here is outstanding. We had the Pearl banquet for 2 (to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary). More than enough food for 2 people, and all of it was fresh and flavoursome. Great atmosphere, but must mention the great service again.

Great place to eat. Food of high quality and quickly served even though very busy. Great staff and the menu choice is plentiful. The SoftShell crab starter was excellent.

RILEY'S FISH SHACK REVIEWS

In a league of it's own, not just for the North East but nationwide. The lads serving and in the kitchen were all exceptionally friendly. The view from the decking makes you feel like you're abroad. They have a couple a lovely local beers on tap. As for the reason we visited, the food; well it's a good as it gets. Menu is immense, we ordered 3 dishes and they all looked incredible and the flavours were unreal. What a place. Rick Stein himself couldn't replicate food this good.

Unexpected menu of delicious sea treats with spectacular views and friendly staff. This place could be everything you came for: romancing, fun, celebration. Eat on the beach in deck chairs on the sand, or wine n dine at the bar overlooking the dramatic coast and the battlements of bygone days. It’s the best shack I’ve ever been to . Yet some how it is still a shack. Very cool.

Awesome on every level. What a gem. The only feedback would not be so much single use plastic / take away boxes while you are spending upwards of £130 for 2 people. Food outstanding and wicked vibe! Highly recommend.
