3 Best Steak Restaurants in Chelmsford, UK

Okay so the first thing my husband said to me was "now that's service" soon as we sat the waitress bought us a bottle of water and glasses. Honestly that alone tops the board as great customer service we have had in many restaurants in the UK since the pandemic. Our waitresses and host were so friendly, helpful and informative. The food was delicious, the steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. The music was a bit of a let down as it sounded like my 90s NOW CD didn't quite fit the occasion listening to sclub7 on our dinner date. The wine was fabulous and my espresso martini was yummy It was a great meal one of the best we've had in a while which was mainly because there was well trained hospitality staff.

Food was amazing, absolutely no complaints about the evening. Our server Emese was amazing, she was funny, polite, and very kind. Very much enjoyed our evening. The food here was better than a previous Michelin starred restaurant we ate at the night before. Absolutely recommend.

It's been a few years since I last are here, and the fact that they have weathered the storm of the pandemic, indicates the food quality, service and price are all off a high enough standard to retain customers. I went on a Friday night, and you'll be best served if you book in advance as in addition to the standard menu, off some lovely choices, they offer a 90 minute unlimited steak and chips experience. Well I had to try this. Our server for the evening was attentive from the off, even though one of our party was running a little late. A nice selection of drinks were available, including an unlimited wine for an additional fee. When our steaks arrived they were well presented and I upgraded to the posh loaded fries. The combination of parmesan, trifle and rosemary was very rich and delightful to eat. The streaks were cooked medium rare, and presented our cut making them very tender to eat. I could but work out what the cut was, but it was delicious from first to last forkful. I then had another 4 round of the steak and each arrived quickly and grilled to the same level of perfection. Suffice to say there was no room for dessert as the food was very filling, on fact I turned down more if the fantastic bit and crunchy fries as it was too much for me. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble and our server really maintained a great balance between attentive and privacy, something that cannot be underestimated in my opinion, I just hope she gets a bonus as a great representative for their brand. In Sunday a great meal for around £45 with drinks, in a well decorated and maintained location at the end of the high street. I'll be back, but won't leave it so long next time. Absolute treasure of a restaurant hidden on the edge of Chelmsford. On arrival you receive a warm welcoming, drinks menu is outstanding the wines are well sourced. The food outstanding all locally sourced and super fresh. Very responsibly priced given the quality of your experience. The restaurant is highly designed in keeping with the original building. Will most definitely be back. We had lobster, risotto and the meso cauliflower. Excellent cheese board it was gone before I could get a photo.

This place is amazing, food is delicious and freshly cooked, atmosphere & views are excellent. 10/10 for the staff and there hard work. A hidden gem in the countryside. You need to try.

If you have not been here I can not stress enough how much you need to! This was our first time at Pig & Whistle and I can tell you it shall not be the last….. The owners and staff are an absolute delight made us feel so welcome and right at home thank you so much. The food is AMAZING… Everything is very well presented and cooked to perfection no complaints from us… The lamb shank and chicken supreme !!! Wow . Can not wait to return to this delight!
