“Hart's Bakery is an artisan bakery with a rustic cafe space offering homemade pastries, pies, and cakes. All their pastries are handmade, and their sourdough bread is crafted from flour, water, salt, and natural leaven. They use organic flour from Shipton Mill in Tetbury and bake fresh, high-quality products daily on-site. All of their products are prepared, baked, and sold in one open space.

2025 Update: Hart’s Bakery specialises in sourdough, handmade pastries, seasonal cakes, and savouries. Their long, slow fermentation process creates bread full of flavour and character, with excellent keeping qualities. “Joe's Bakery is owned by Wayne Thick and Jenny Rogers. The bakery has been making bread every day for about 130 years and is the oldest working bakery in Bristol. They also offer handmade cakes and sweets, such as Eccles cakes, brownies, and Greek orange filo cake, using high-quality ingredients. The bakery was an early adopter of compostable bags, joining the local GRAB (Gloucester Road Alternative Bag) campaign. Takeaway options are also available at the bakery.

What a delightful place this is, If you are in the area you must visit this place. It's busy, but the team are quick and efficient, but more importantly than that they go out of their way to make sure you have a lovely time. They all looked like they were having fun, despite being at work, The food is sublime, some amazing flavours expertly baked. You simply must visit !

The staff is AMAZING. They are really nice also all the group cooking together makes the space cozier. The coffee also was delicious. If I come back to bristol I will come for sure! I spent 5-6 pounds for a coffee and a cookie :)

There’s a reason the reviews are so high. Great coffee, great bread, great pastries. The croissants are also technically correct by French standards, even if I find them to be a bit short of butter. The apple turnover was incredible as well. Will definitely come back if in Bristol.

I ordered it for my husband's birthday and it was an absolute hit. Not only did everyone at the party thoroughly enjoy it, but it was so delicious and visually stunning that my friend decided to order it for her husband's birthday as well. This was our second time indulging in this delightful treat, and I must say, it exceeded our expectations once again. The cake itself was moist, flavorful, and simply heavenly. The intricate design showcased true craftsmanship. Alongside the cake, I also tried their coffee, which was absolutely amazing. The combination of the exquisite cake and the fantastic coffee made for a truly memorable experience. If you haven't tried the Bristol Loaf cake yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. After the time I spent in Bristol with so much good sourdough around, now that I’m back in New York, I find myself missing the focaccia sourdough from The Loaf the most. If you have the opportunity to have coffee and a pastry, or one of the many focaccia sandwiches here, definitely do not let it slip away! Everything is good here!

Been here a few times recently and it truly is amazing here ! The staff are incredible good at their job, warm and friendly. The coffee is incredible and the snack selection always inviting :) massive plus points for being dog friendly with homemade treats also.

So happy that this is our local bakery! We usually get the brown sourdough that is so tasty I can just have it with butter and stays tasty for another 4 or 5 days even without toasting. The pistacchio croissants are the ultimate breakfast treat! And everyone that works there is always nice - thank you for being awesome!

A proper bakery offering superb quality at reasonable prices without pretense. I've bought bread from here pretty much every week for the last 10 years and am certain there are many many more loyal customers because of how consistantly good their offerings are.

Their pastries, donuts and muffins were delicious! Staff were also friendly, which adds to the experience. Will definitely be back for more tasty treats.
