THE EAGLE REVIEWS

Great pub with a lot of history. Apparently it dates back to the mid 1600s. It has the RAF Bar which was a favourite with British and allied airmen during WW2 and has lots of memorabilia around this. It was also where Watson & Crick, who discovered the double-helix of DNA, used to eat and drink. As a tour guide I often take guests there. Today my son and I had a Sunday roast which was very good. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. If you like historical pubs and you’re in Cambridge it’s well worth a visit.

Great atmosphere with a bit of history as a popular hang out for many famous folks including James Watson and Francis Crick, staff of Cavendish Laboratory who discovered DNA. They announced their discovery here as a place they regularly dined 6 times a week! Good food (fish &chip, steak pie and steak) and good beer too.

What a gem of a pub and a fantastic find the place just oozes history and quality. We were in the raf bar and wow were blown away with it. Fabulous pub that we will definitely be going back too soon . The staff were great even tho it was busy but I guess that's I there dna.

Visited on 29.7.24. for lunch. Excellent service and food. Nico, the owner, was very happy to let us sample several of their brews. Meal was excellent. Really pleased with our experience. Would thoroughly recommend this lovely pub. Many thanks. Iain and Julie.

Head Brewer Vanessa has created Mexican Wave, a very drinkable, gluten free keg lager, cold and perfect for the summer. Nice spot for a pint on the walk home. Really interesting and mixed clientele.

We had our wedding celebration at the venue in the larger private room and they were FANTASTIC. Can not rate them highly enough. We were able to use their projector and sound system to play our playlists and their outdoor section allowed for a lovely change of pace. They were friendly, eager to help, and provided a fantastic buffet.

Heaven for me. Excellent beer selection and the menu had so much I wanted to order. Went for the pork belly which was so succulent, proper crackling, ace gravy...this was totally yummy. If I lived in Cambridge, I'd be a regular.

Everythings fantastic. The kind of gastropub I’d like to hang around. Good selection of beer and knowledgeable staff help me a lot with that. Everything on the charcuterie board are nice, scotch eggs are tasty, croquettes are yummy. Now the mains, pork belly is the killer, but that deep fried sea bream(it was the day’s special) was astronomical… life changing kind of fish you’ll need. My new favourite in Cambridge.

Went for a Sunday roast with a friend, both had the beef and both thoroughly enjoyed it! Really well seasoned food and the meat was cooked so well. Can also highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, so much sauce and a huge portion.
