TOP 3 THE IVY REVIEWS

Booked for a celebratory lunch at the Ivy with my mother and had a wonderful experience! Wonderfully welcoming reception staff and wonderful service from my waiters, Dimitri and Shaun. For lunch we shared the duck liver parfait, buffalo mozzarella, and the roasted scallops and pasta. All delicious and the new scallop dish is now a favourite. We also had the chocolate bombe which is a classic dessert and was tasty as always. Overall a great lunch and would definitely recommend this restaurant!

We attended a very small, low key, friends wedding lunch, 9 in total. Staff we super brilliant, from the minute we arrived till we left. They let 4 of us set up some wedding bits & pieces as part of a surprise for the happy couple, let us know when they arrived & made the day feel really special. The food was excellent, everyone agreed.

Me and my mother visited Edinburgh for one day and wanted to try the famous Haggis. Right on the corner we found this place. Everything was lovely, the service, the surroundings and also the food (it was delicious actually). I hope I'll visit Scotland once more in my life and I am sure about where I will be looking for a place to eat in Edinburgh:)

TOP 3 MAKARS MASH BAR REVIEWS

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Makars! As a party of 9, they were super accommodating of group as a walk in (but definitely recommend making reservations so you don’t have to do this). Everyone enjoyed their entrees - even our picky eaters! I personally had the haggis entree and thought it was delicious. They also have a great selection of beers. Definitely recommend this spot if you’re in Edinburgh - just remember to make a reservation ahead of time or go for an early dinner if you’re going to walk in!

Everything was delicious! First time trying Haggis and was surprised at how good it was. I also ordered a salad with Scotch egg--yum. My husband ordered the Beef shoulder with a mustard mash and he ate the plate clean. Fun atmosphere-- although if you are extremely tall you week need to watch out for your head downstairs.

Delicious spot for Scottish cuisine. Very friendly and helpful staffs, food came out quick, price was reasonable despite locating in busy touristy area, and enjoyed good selection of alcohol and non-alcohol options to choose from. Definitely check this spot out for a hearty meal!

Having dinner here was such a special experience. Everything was great. From the moment you walk in the service is friendly yet very professional. Everyone is knowledgeable about the dishes. We decided on a 5 course tasting menu - one normal and one vegetatian. Nothing disappointed - from presentation to taste to variety. Even all the little extras sent to the table were excellent. I highly recommend coming for a special occasion.

As close to perfection as one is likely to find in a dining experience. Fresh, locally sourced items combined into exquisite combinations of complementary flavors. The sommelier's recommendations were perfect matches for the dishes. The staff are all of one mind and work as a team to ensure you have an unforgettable evening. I can't recommend this highly enough!

The food here is fantastic! All of it local with a handy map provided to show where the ingredients came from. I had the tasting menu and was impressed with everything. The cocktails were creative, well balanced and delicious. I really appreciated the chef stopping by to chat. So pleased I made the trip to Leith.
