Superb fish supper - the chips were lovely and not soggy at all, and the fish was fried and crispy to perfection. Pretty good price for the city centre as well, you can get a fish supper for under a tenner if you’re having it to take away. Very tasty battered sausage supper too. The service was fast and efficient as well, which is great because it can get busy at weekends.

This place was recommended to my friends and I by the friendly doorman at The Grand. We were starving and were delighted to arrive at this lovely fish and chip place. There is a lot of seating and we were greeted by lovely friendly staff who met us choose a table of our liking. The decor is calming and it’s a clean restaurant with a family friendly ambience. The menu was rondel, lots of options. We went for the classic fish and chips option. Our drinks were great and I LOVED the bottomless chips!!! We also had onion rings, fresh and scrumptious. It was all as good as it gets! our swerved was v sweet, hence the photo.

We booked a table for 2 and was given the option of one downstairs or on the 1st floor. As downstairs was busy, which was to be expected at 5.30pm, we chose upstairs, which was empty and suited us. Service was attentive but no overly, so good. We ordered regular Haddock & Chips and Fish Tacos & Chips, Curry Sauce & Mushy Peas plus 2 drinks. The Fish & chips on both meals were fantastic, proper traditional style, fish was skinless and boneless, just how we like it. Chips are unlimited, so if you're hungry, you can ask for more. We would definitely go back again.

Stayed at the hotel where The Pearly Cow is located and couldn't have been more pleased. Food was outstanding everything we ordered was spot on. We had tuna tartare, char-grilled chicken and filet with buttered herb potatoes and mixed greens as sides and topped off with soufflé and everything was spot on.Even the drinks were fantastic. Wait staffs are very attentive, friendly and have good recommendations on what to order. Try this restaurant and you won't be disappointed.

A truly memorable evening out! I visited Pearly Cow as one of my evenings staying at York and the food was out of this world. The presentation of the dishes were impeccable, the concept behind the menu (fire + ice) we fascinating and the staff were well informed from dish through to wines, and more! Not only was the food and service great, the interiors of the restaurant were modern, sleek and a charming place to visit. 100% recommend.

A wonderful evening catching up with friends over dinner, and having beautiful jazz music in the background!! The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive! We asked the waitress the reason why they gave the restaurant its name and loved the idea of seafood (pearl) and meat (cow).
